- City Manager is a tool for examining and modifying SimCities created by
- SimCity from Maxis software.
-
- The following is a brief description of the various menu options:
-
-
- A. File Menu
-
- 1. Open City - will load a city from disk. Put the program in
- the directory with your SimCities.
- 2. Save City - Replaces existing city with modified one. The program
- will warn you if you modify and attempt to exit without
- saving.
-
- B. Display City
-
- 1. Residential - displays the status of your residential zones. The
- residential zones are broken into 2 groups:
- Apartment complexes and single home zones. The apts.
- are displayed by value and density. The higher both
- are the better. The houses group shows the total
- number of lots (6 per area) occupied, the total number
- vacant, and the number of churches and hospitals. The
- total number of residential areas is also displayed.
-
- 2. Commercial - displays the status of your commercial zones. Like the
- residential group, it gives you a table broken down
- by density and value. Again, the higher both are the
- better. The total number of zones is also given.
-
- 3. Industrial - displays the status of industrial zones. Industrial
- zones only have two value classifications, unlike
- residential and commercial. The number of zones
- occupied and vacant is given.
-
- 4. Infrastructure - displays the status of all infrastructure squares.
- These include roads, rails, police stn., fire stn.,
- power plants, airports, sea ports, and power lines.
-
- C. Change City
-
- 1. Edit City - will allow you to modify various fields in your city.
- Most of the fields are constantly updated by the program
- are displayed only for your information. The fields
- you can change are the funds and the external market
- size. While you can change the other fields, SimCity
- seems to update them soon after you begin playing and
- your changes are lost.
-
- 2. Chrch & Hspt - will allow you to remove churches and hospitals from
- your city and replace them with either high value &
- high density residential, high value & high density
- commercial, or empty residential. To change churches
- and/or hospitals, select one by pressing the space bar
- or clicking on it with the mouse. One, both or none
- may be selected. Then use the Tab key or mouse to
- move to the radio buttons to select a value to change
- them to. Then press Enter of click on OK button to
- change.
-
-
- Changes:
-
- This version fixes several bugs. A bug that caused lockups on certain PCs
- should be fixed, and the commercial display now correctly shows the number of
- commercial zones. The change churches and hospitals feature was added,
- and the program now warns you before leaving the program without saving
- your city. Finally, a new display box was added for Infrastructure type zones.
-
-
- Notes: You can edit only one city at a time, and remember to save it (F2)
- if you change values before loading another or exiting. It is also
- a good idea to make a copy of your city before modifying it. I have
- tested this program and it has not trashed any of my cities, but I
- wouldn't recommend taking any chances.
-
-
- This program was written using Turbo Pascal 6.0 and TurboVision. I recommend
- both highly. If you are interested in the source code, or have any
